No need to avoid your favorite Chinese take-out during pregnancy. And for those who primarily cook Chinese dishes at home, there is no concern there either.
Regardless of whether it’s homemade or restaurant food, just make sure to follow proper food safety guidelines and keep to dishes that involve fully-cooked meat, seafood, and/or eggs. If you’re ordering take-out, it may not be a bad idea to keep to cooked dishes in general—veggies included, just so you don’t have to worry about any cross-contamination that may have occurred in the kitchen.
If your favorite Chinese dishes include egg rolls, Chow Mein, or chicken balls, just remember to practice moderation. Fried and high-sodium foods aren’t something that we want to be consuming all the time, and we don’t want our babies to be either.
