It’s not recommended to consume cannabis or cannabis products during labor or to use cannabis during pregnancy, including edibles. There’s not enough high-quality research on the safety and effects of these substances during childbirth, so we don’t know the effects that cannabis use during labor can have on both the mother and baby. It’s best to avoid any substances not specifically approved by your healthcare provider.

Instead, focus on approved methods of pain relief and relaxation techniques known to be safe during labor. Some alternatives include practicing breathing exercises, using a birthing ball, or trying hydrotherapy with a warm bath or shower. These methods can help manage pain and promote relaxation without the risks associated with cannabis use. Always consult your healthcare provider to determine the best and safest options for your labor experience.
