Whether or not you can eat smoked salmon during pregnancy depends on the type of smoked salmon you’re consuming. There are some versions that are thoroughly cooked, whereas the smoked salmon that you get sliced and often frozen to use for bagels with lox is not thoroughly cooked. The latter is the type to be weary of during pregnancy, due to the increased food safety risk and possibility of food poisoning. For that reason you’ll have to skip the salmon and keep to a cream cheese bagel for now—so long as the cream cheese is pasteurized, of course.
